The Girl who could Fly


The mobile bookstore, Waterstones just visited our island and my mom bought me this cool book called: The Girl who could Fly by Victoria Forester.

Piper McCloud lives with her very conservative, religious parents on a big farm in America.

From the day she was born, she was extraordinary but to her parents dismay.

They were obsessively ordinary and very fearful of what the neigbours and community would say.

Pipers mother went out of her way to prevent Piper from having any contact with the outside world. The result being that Piper was very lonely and very bored.

And we all know that very bored children get up to mischief. Even Piper who was very well behaved, despite her unusualness, discovered something she could do that horrified her mother.

One day whilst trying to entertain herself Piper discovered she could FLY!

Even worse than that, she was forbidden by her mother to fly.

More than anything Piper dreamed of having a friend. A true friend to share things with and the chance to make a friend came with the THANKSGIVING PICNIC!

However things did not go her way ……
