Being nearly eleven is much more complicated than it seems. Magnus is lonely. He lives in a cottage by the sea and spends his time combing the beach for finds. He has 2 wishes - to have a best friend and for his parents to be happy like they used to be. With an unhappy school life and a strange and tragic home life, neither of these seem likely. Everyone in the village thinks his family is weird. Even Magnus can admit that both he and his parents are... well different, although he can explain why exactly. He longs to belong.
